View Full Version : SG-3 Re-con of P3S-989
The trio emerged from the gate, as they take a few steps forward the gate shuts down behind them, cutting of the connection between home and one anonymous planet. The surface looked exactly as it did on the picture, covered with small specs of glass and large craters here and there, it a bombardment had occoured there was no debree as far as the eye could see.
Sergeant Armstrong walked calmly over to the DHD. It was mid-day and the sun was beaming down giving the specs of glass a slight twinkle.
"Well here we are. Where gonna need to take some samples and have a good look around this place for signs that there used to be a civilization here, if there was."

*Stephen walks down to the MALP and connects his labtop to the computer while the rest of the team establish the parameter*
"Hey Sarg, these readings are quite strange"
*He motions to the screen*
We are looking at energy readings unlike anything we have seen before, I will need to go back to the lab to fully analyze them. *He looks around to a scene of utter desolation and devestation* But whatever did this level of devestation has some serious firepower behind them.
*snaps fingers* I almost forgot! *places facemask on* I really do not want to get silicosis!
"Silicosis? Huh." Tom straps on his mask, he shakes it around a bit making sure it fits. Tom was never a fan of masks during missions, not like he had a choice.
Tom bent down and took a look at the laptop, "What kind of readings?"
Darren stepped out through the gate.
Jeez, the gate's creepy...
Darren put on a mask and hefted the machine gun, looking around across the desolated planet, before moving away from the gate and toward a particulary large crater.
With a whistle he looked around a bit more.

*Looks back at Darren as he exits the gate then back to the Sgt.*
Well, *motions to screen* these waveforms are almost consistent with Goul'd residual energy readings we have seen in the past but with distinct differences.
Wait!..*eyes widening with the implications....Sergent Armstong these wave forms look like a combination of residual energy readings from Goul'd and Toukra weapons discharge.
*repositions facemask* Is there a Toukra operation or base in the area?
Darren waited for Tom to answer, seeing as he didn't know what a Tohkrer was.
"We dont know, they dont tend to tell us these things because it effects there security."
After only a few minutes on the planet they had already found evidence of what could have happened. So after a slight pause Tom continued. "However it would make sence, Tokra work in underground bases, and by the looks of it there was never a civilisation on the surface. Just an orbital strike at random co-ordinates."
"Sorry to butt in sir, but what are the Tohkrer?" Darren couldn't help but ask.

*Looks at Darren*
An offshoot of the Goul'd that live in a symbiotic relationship with there hosts and do not subjugate them into slavery. They are hunted by the Goul'd where ever they are found.
*Continues to scan surroundings*
After Stephen's encyclopaedic explanation, Darren nodded and muttered to himself "Ok, the good bad guys then."
With a yawn he looked around again.
"Well, so far it's been calm here. Anything interesting in the scan?"
After scanning the horizon for a few moments trying to find anything that would stand out, Tom turned back to Stephen, speaking with a plane voice.
"So Hawkin, you say that there are signs of Tok'ra weapons fire? Well as far as we know they dont have weapons capable of targeting and firing upon a Hat'ak, or whatever ship did this. So that leaves the posibility there was a ground assualt first before they blew the planet to pieces. So maybe they wanted to make sure the Tok'ra where here."
Tom paused for a split moment before continuting with a little more enthusiasm. "Or. They where after something or someone before they bombarded the planet."
"Unless the firefight was just cutting of any remaining Tok'ra running for the gate." The enthusiasm he had a few seconds ago died down towards the end of his sentance.

*Looks to Sgt. Armstrong*
These readings show the Tokra readings becoming stronger away from the gate which would lead one against them running to get to the gate before the orbital bombardment.
I think that we will need to travel to the worst of the bombardment *points north* to find out why the Tokra and Goul'd were here.
*Thinking outloud* The Tokra must have been searching for or protecting something that they were unable/unwilling to leave behind or take with them....
Darren streched a little, then replied "Sounds ok to me., I guess. We'll get to see some different scenery. A few craters, some glass..."
"Right, good work."
Sergeant Armstrong then turned towards Darren, "Marcus, take a sample of this glass and keep hold of it till we get back to the SGC."
"Ok sir."
Darren looked at the solid glass in front of him. How to get it...?
"I guess shooting it to get some fragments should work sir?"
After a glance towards Stephen, he found some shards already there and picked them up.
Tom raised an eyebrow. "Shoot it? That was a joke right? Just stick it in a test tube."
Tom reached into his lower left vest pocket and pulled out a small circled shaped test tube. He handed it to Darren. "Dont cut yourself now." he added with a slight smirk along with a hint of sarcasm. He cleared his throat and spoke boldly.
"Okay SG-3 lets head north."
Sergeant Armstrong quickly re-adusted his gun sling and began walking.
"Thanks." Darren took the test tube and tipped the glass into it.
He fset off following Tom, glancing around the planet.

*Rushes a few last readings on the MALP, juggling closing his labtop and his P90*
Right away sir!
*Looks at Sgt. Armostrong* So Sgt. if this was a classic Toukra base that we had never heard about then an orbital bombardment would make sense since Toukra use of their crystaline tech makes it easy for them to create underground bunkers. However, *shakes head* why would we get a message of *in a dark gutteral voice* "We will destroy you like we destroyed these people!" Without the Goul'd doing some chest thumping about trashing the Toukra if they knew they destroyed one of there bases?
*Adjusts glasses* this is not adding up...
"Well, because they have already made their point, they knew we would'av checked this planet because they sent their message from here. This was the perfect way to get our attention."
Stephen Hawkin

*Adjusts glasses* So why didn't the Toukra tell us about it after the fact? What is so important here?
"The way you're making it out sir, sounds like you also think this is a trap."
Stephen Hawkin
09-23-2008, 14:53
*Looks at Darren as he adjust his P90* a trap is exactly what I am afraid of
Darren hefted his machine gun again, "Glad to see I'm not alone in thinking that."

*The grounds rubbles around the SG team*
*Opening his labstop and setting it on a near rock*..damn the readings are changing Sgt.! This can't be right...! *his taps on the keyboard frantically* The Toukra readings I had thought were residual are now coming in stronger! My word...*those last words are cut off as a crystal erupts from the ground right in front of the team*
What thee?!?!?
((I'm gonna wait for Tom to post.))
Stephen Hawkin
09-26-2008, 19:29
*The Crystal formation breaks apart before the teams eyes*
*Stephen looks to the Sgt.* I have read case reports of residual energy sparking Tokra crystal growth spontaneously perhaps that is what happend here.
*scratches head while looking at computer screen* well it appears that energy reading is going down, looks like it was a energy bleed from the bombardment.
*Looks to Sgt.* We are good to go to look around some more Sgt.
Tom raises an eyebrow not to sure what just happened. However it kept him on his toes, "Erm. Okay lets move on. Its not far from here."
Darren hefted the machine gun for the umpteenth time and followed Armstrong again.

*Adjusting his glasses and P90* Here we go... moving deftly around the blasted and melted landscape.
After a good few minutes stroll in a straight line Sergeant Armstrong's GPS unit, which he had taken from his vest along the way, beings bleeping. The bleeping continues to become more rapid until its virtually one never ending note. He presses the 'OK' button on his GPS and the bleeping stops as they look down on one very large crater in owe.
"Wo'w, someone took one hell of a beating."
Darren looked at the enormous crater in awe.
The poor buggers...
With a crater like that, one could only wonder at their enemy's weaponry.

*Looks around in amazement*
Sgt. the residual radiation is no where near what would be needed to make this crater. It suggests something was here that exploded when they started their orbial bombardment. I wonder what...

The battery in the GPS unit Tom is using suddenly starts sparking, sending an electrical pulse throuygh the GPS unit, frying the circuitry. Further inspection reveals the outer casing of the battery somehow had malfunctioned and created a short. A sticker on the back is labeled: Made in Russia
((OOC: FYI: GPS units can't work without GPS satelites in orbit around a planet - can't even go in a strait line as the GPS has no reference point to go from. Sorry I didn't catch that sooner))

Looks around.
Well now where are we going?
(Thanks NPC)
"What as in a self destruct maybe?"
Darren shrugs, and looks around more.
((Well spotted RandomNPC user))
((Pssst, you two can still RP despite my leave!!!))

*looks around the area*
Well appears to me a scrub of a mission sir, I recommend we head back for the debrief
(OOC:Did anyone deleate a post of mine by anychance or did it just not send? Also sorry about not been on much lots of work n all.)
Sergeant Armstrong leans forwards and takes another sample from the creater. "Okay theres nothing more we can do here, so where getting these samples checked. But am not giving up on this one, we are coming back."
Stephen Hawkin
10-27-2008, 18:18
Sounds like a plan to me! *notes Stephen*
((*Darren pops in for a check* :D))
Darren nods, and gets ready to follow them back to the gate.
((so is that the end of the mission? Or is it gonna continue?))

((I think it is over and we went through the gate((
The group arrived back at the gate, the MALP still there as it was.
Darren fished into his pocket for a small piece of paper, containing the gate address.
He started dialling in.
((Can't go home yet, gate's being used.))
Darrezn finished dialling and pressed the central button.
The gate whooshed open, and after transmitting the SG-3 IDC, wheeling the MALP through Darren walked through.
