it was announced that no Command Housing/Bases will be in-game. They did not clarify if this would be a priority later, but he did mention that they would discuss this at a later date.
Hope to have ingame at some point. Hearing that in the podcast did put a smile to my face.quoted by AJZ.
Whats your thoughts guys. i think tragic mistake

I came across a dialogue about the type of PvP we will actually have in this upcoming adventure. It seems we will have more styles and types of PvP than originally expected. What does this mean in SGW?
Here is a quote from the latest German Devloper Chat:
At launch, PvP dueling will be an option. There will also be PvP Servers. Then during our first big content push (that would be episode #3) the Jaffa Civil War will erupt. Then we will 'layer' in battlegrounds in all the worlds. Set up by the war. Take a good look at the character on the box cover, my friends. A good look.

I think they said they will have command housing, but 100% not at start, will be something that comes downn the road.
As for PvP I think there doing something similar to DaoC. They will have the basic Dueling where you opt in and go off to find someone else who is opted in too. However when they bring out the first expansion they will be putting in battlegrounds. These will be seprate areas when you dont get to opt in or out of PvP, as soon as you go in your flagged untill you leave. They also mentioned that they will be objective based, we havent been told what they will be but DaoC has a keep capture system, where there is one keep and everyone battles for control of it. Best pvp system in any MMO and I hope they pull it off :)

Hmmm. Curiouser and curiouser. No bases/housing? Bad idea. PvP Jaffa Civil War? Good idea. Your thoughts, my friends?
We've basically known housing wouldn't be in at release. they've stated that over and over now. I think them stating that it would be in later is a good step, shows they did listen to us sorta.
I think DAOC style PVP is a good road to go down. Lets those that want to PVP and those that dont want to PVP both have their ways. I only played DAOC for 2 motnhs but I was impressed with the PVp aspect of the game compared to similar games of the era.
If you didnt hit 50 in DaoC you didnt see the best bit. RvR is the lvl 50 PvP area but bascially theres...13 zones, and thats jsut the surface, not including underground, and all full of keeps to take. If they did something similar in SGW ill be playing a LONG time :)

Eh, housing isn't a game breaker/maker for me. I would like to have a house or something, but if the PVP is enjoyable, that's all that matters.
*Decorates his house with penguin pictures*
Housing is so much fun tho, ill be really dissapointed if they dont atleast have guild housing
It would be nice to get some type of housing, but don't care at the beginning. I will just have to be less of a pack rat as I am, normally.
They said as this game is going to have a large crafting section we are going to have pleanty of space, packrats should be fine :)
I'd rather have a command base than a house.:)
kinda what i was refering too :)
some sort of large command area would be good fun, espically if we can attack each others bases :D

*50 SGC members charge into a System Lords base, eating everyone in their path* Ohhhhh... Sounds awesomenessly cool.
so long as its the TSL base ill be right behind you ;)
Tbh I don't care if there is player housing in the game....the series hardly touched on the subject. However, bases played a key role, and as such would be great for commands to aspire towards being granted a planet to protect.

I thought bases would be very important, even if they had to be captured.
I'd hope for commands that had got quite far could get a base with automatically generated standard rooms, one per person, with a certain architectural style determined at the creation of the command.
The way DaoC did keeps was cool. when you captured a keep you could custimise it. Would decide what guards you wanted, where to put them and you could put in stuff like crafting areas where you could make things (Needed say a alchemy table to make potions, couldnt do it anywhere) Would love something like this, but a base wide system, rather than just a keep
