Anyone tried reading the Stargate novels? It requires you to have a knowledge of the show. I am reading Stargate Atlantis: Blood Ties by Sonny Whitelaw & Elizabeth Christensen. I am on the beginning chapters still, but it is awesome. A great read with plenty of detail. This particular book is a crossover episode between SGA and SG-1. Must read for fans. Make sure you have watched at least through SGA Season 3: Sunday before reading.

The Atlantis team return from the Pegasus Galaxy to investigate a Wraith sighting on Earth. Teaming up with members of SG-1, they soon discover that the Wraith aren't the only monsters stalking human prey.

hmmm, Sounds interesting! I kinda got burned on a Star Trek fan fiction I picked up, and it wasn't that good, not to mention rated R. Meanless to say I am wary of just picking up anything. I will definately have to look into it though...

All books are based on the series and must be approved by MGM so as to not infringe on the show or show storyline.

This should explain everything:

Pretty much "filler episodes". These novels are of events that take place between the shows and are cannon to the show. FAQ link explains it more. Blood Ties is 300+ pages.

@Privaten
Drop everything and start Blood Ties. It is awesome. l33t of novels.

I'll probably just read them at the same time because Contact Harvest is also pretty good and I don't want to stop readying it

I just picked up the latest SG-1 novel by Suzanne Wood titled "The Barque of Heaven". It is set after Season 3 Deadman's Switch.

It is classic SG-1 so far. Will let you know how I like it once it gets going more.

The Stargate SG-1 team find themselves transported to a world where they must solve a series of riddles and avoid deadly traps in order to travel home. Pursued by Goa'uld and Jaffa, it is a race against death to the finish line.

Considering what a book fiend I am, I'm almost ashamed to say that the only SG1 fiction I've read is fan written!

Pretty much same here. I read a lot, but I kinda looked past the Stargate books for some reason. They are next on my list though :) Gonna need something to tie me over once Atlantis ends this friday.
