SG-1's newest DVD adventure is also one of its biggest ever. Here's what we think. SPOILERS
More... ( http://www.gateworld.net/news/features/review_stargate_continuum.shtml )
So I am not going to spoil anything, but will just say that I totally agree that this is the biggest adventure so far. I have already watched the movie, all of the special features, and rewatched the movie with the commentary!!

/stares at dvd on TV stand, waiting for family to come home.
:D
Sounds like torture, ShadowPuppet...
Ya, I didn't eat dinner at my in-laws (who happen to live across the street) cause, well, 1: I wasn't hungry, and 2: there was Stargate Continuum to watch. I didn't even care that my wife was going to the store, I just ripped open (very carefully, of course) the DVD package and immediately started watching. Very smart move on my part, if I do say so myself!!

q_q I gotta wait untill tomorrow to watch it now. :(
I liked it, definately the most expensive show ever by them, they put a lot of time and effort into the behind the scenes stuff to coordinate alot of the events.
They actually got that nuclear sub and the F15's, they were not edited into the movie in post production :p.
It was a good movie overall, I got a good sense of closure from the movie in the end as it wrapped up the series well, but not the best way in my opinion.
I was really dissapointed w/ the screen time Richard Dean Anderson got in the film, I really wanted him to be on screen more :(. It was great to see all the best characters back for one final hoorah on the silver screen
Overall, 4 out of 5 for me :) (i edited out a lot of details that I know to not ruin the movie for ppl (yes i know I can do spoilers, but we all know that if there is a spoiler tag there, you will open it :p))

Awwww, I was actually hoping for spoilers this time. :p I need someone to talk about the movie with!
It was epic. e_e
And more violent then the series...
I think we should probably let no more than a week go by before we review it. That way those of us who do have things to say, like me and Sturmmann, will not explode from the pressure.
Haven't used this feature yet, figured I better get some practice in!

Good movie, but to be honest, not sure if I like it better than Arc of Truth or not...

I really enjoyed watching this movie. I would have watched it again sometime after(couple days after) but I had to pack all my stuff up and get ready to move. Once I get all settled in again, I am definitely going to watch it again.

Mixed feelings on this one. First- meh? It was okay, but most two-part episodes have a more epic "feel." Also, it felt like a cheap excuse to get almost every actor ever in SG-1 a part in the movie, without actually having the movie really do anything with them. Other than that, it was a nice romp through the Stargate, acceptable, but not excellent. 3/5.

OK. I have just finished watching Continuum...
..and I have to say that whilst it was a good romp, with plenty of action, the emotional side left me feeling a little hung out to dry.
There was little in the way of reactions to circumstances, situations and experiences (although Shanks did get to exercise Daniel's sarcasm muscles a lot more, always fun) which in my opinion seriously undermined a lot of what SG-1 means. Where was the family, the closeness, the pure and passionate camaraderie? Did I blink and miss it? Sure, there was some light banter and a little of the good old "We're SG-1" attitude but in general there was something missing. That tiny thing was just enough to make it feel a little lacklustre.
The film was also lacking in explanations - for example, the moment on the ice that was used in the trailers, when Mitchell and Carter meet Alternate O'Neill and there is recognition but no explanation for the emotion attached to it. Or, indeed, the final shot - you who have seen know what I mean - that holds only questions and no answers.
Whilst Cliff Simon is a joy to behold (as always - there is something absolutely delicious about his portrayal of Ba'al that simply never gets dull or old), Claudia Black really got to have some fun (Quetesh is everything I imagined her to be - hard, seductive evil) and Ben Browder yet again got to play with the old make-up chair (looking a lot better for it this time although to be fair, in Farscape his character was in his 80s), I'm sorry to say that the majority of the rest of the cast seemed to be called in as extras that filled in gaps on the screen so we didn't have to be looking at yet more wall/bunker/aircraft hanger. And yes, I am including Major Davis, Siler, Harriman, Landry, Hammond and the System Lords - all six of them - in that.
And, whilst this may cause some contention, the ending of this film left me feeling more adrift at sea and lost in space than the entire episode of Unending, despite the loss of the Asgard and the whole rewinding of 50 years - believe me, that whole thing was a serious annoyance in more ways than I can count.
Don't get me wrong...as an action adventure it was fun. It was good to see Richard Dean Anderson again and, whilst no one knew at the time, the last time we are ever to see Don S Davis as Hammond was not a poor show either. But whilst it started well, the middle was slow and the end could have done with something that either had more closure or left us with an uplifting thought that the team goes on to explore, or fight, for another day. Heading off to lunch or a ball game or something equally banal does NOT qualify in my book.
So, whilst I DID enjoy the film as a standalone film, it fell short of the series as a whole. There is no way in hell a person wanting to find out what the show is really all about would get any decent understanding from this film. They would do better to watch Ark of Truth - that film has everything in it I expect from SG-1 - even though it is a story arc finale.
Final score: 3 out of 5, no gold star but they get a shiny At glyph sticker for good effort.
Now I gotta go watch Atlantis - that should put me back on my SG-buzz...
