Search and Rescue, the first episode of Stargate Atlantis season 5, airs this Friday - at least for those in the US... The wait is finally coming to an end! There are quite a few questions waiting to be answered, and also some answers waiting to be questioned! (O_o)

Sooo, the most obvious question: How are they going to get out of the collapsed building? ... Beaming? Tok'ra tunneling crystals? Using a plastic spoon to dig their way out?

PS. This is a speculation thread as much as it is a discussion thread. Please put any spoilers in spoiler tags. ;)

I'd go for the plastic spoon... that or some C4; they stick it in the rubble and pray that it won't kill them when it goes off... if it does, Beckett will come back and save them with two sticks, gum and a first aid kit! :D :p

Time to go set the recorder!

Dave, that seems like the most likely scenario. :D Beaming is the second most probable. They probably brought along a ship for backup or something...

Tris, do you have an old fashion type, or DVR? I have my DVR set to record all new episodes of Atlantis automatically... I set it during season 4, and it still has this latest ep in its scheduled recordings. Fancy tech. :p

Yay!, i can't wait! Sadly i don't have Normal TV right now, so i hope they upload to I-tunes fast this season, the last one took a few days for the episode to show up.

DVR has to be one of the best inventions EVER!!! My satellite has about 150hrs worth of space, and I think I am down to about 30hrs avail!!

Two hours until the episode!

A shame I won't be seeing it... I am at my grandparents house, so I won't see it until tomorrow. Watch it twice for me! :D

Question, is sam gone and Woolsey in? Because if thats the way it is, I have A) begun to hate them, B) decided Atlantis will be destroyed, C) where is my C4?

Anyone know how many episodes Sam was signed up for this season?

my review...

The first 10 minutes it seemed like some guy was cleaning out a closet. he found an envelope and opened it "Wow... hey guys, i found our special effects budget this season.

Second... why dont they ever target the damn hyperdrive right away? They always do it, usually too late or just in the nick of time. In this case the nick of time... then they never target the weapons or sublight systems when they actually can.

And yes, GDO... notice the start screen... woolsey was actually in the title screen...sadly... he's also on the cover art for the season *sighs*

Seriously...woolsey? *sighs more*

Other than that, I liked the episode... :p

If they didn't replace Sam with someone who was a (real words in the spoiler tag)...

complete utter pin head who is one of stupidest people alive in the world who is going to destory the entire series

...(if you didn't open the spoiler) [READ: Happy person] I wouldn't be pissed.

great episode
I dont get why everybody hates woolsey, he is not a bad guy, he is just the messenger, and if you watched all the episodes he has been in, every time he was able to make his own decisions they were always the good ones, he never solely set out to destroy the stargate program or anything.

That was an awesome episode.

Sheppard would have never been able to go in on the rescue attempt.

I'd like to know how Michael stole the jumper.

Brief cameo by Ford!

Awesome space battle!

We caught a glimpse of some of the new characters.

The commander transition was pretty quick but I like how it went down.

Rodney delivering the baby was classic.

Overall a great way to start a new season

Every decision of Woolsey's that had to work, worked. All of his other decisions ended up being the wrong deciosns but luckily were overridden by the smart people.

Just watch the season 4 epp when he's doing the 3 month eval on carter.

First off, that was an awesome zoom out across the galaxy (Or sector, or whatever)... Amazing special effects throughout the entire episode. The unstable Wraith hyperspace window was awesome. ;)

I thought it was a great episode. Good character development, cool space battle, ect... It had everything. :)

I already knew Carter was being replaced, so that wasn't surprising to me.

Bring on the base invading plant!

Did anyone feel that episode was rushed? A lot happened in it for a one-parter. The way Carter was let go was so blatantly forced, and tacked on at the end. Hopefully during the season we'll see why she was forced out (barring the fact that she has a new show).

It did feel that way to me as well. Seems they could've done away with the 5 minute zoom across the galaxy to make Carters firing a little bit better than it was.

dont get me wrong, the zoom was cool... but after the first 10-15 seconds it became "ok, seriously...we know, whatever this is, is far away, can we get this over with"

Oh, and was Michael's ship hanging around Mars, or was it just me?

I am a little torn. I love Robert Picardo, but do not really like Woolsey. Guess we will have to see how it goes!
