They did it again, dumb mistake....
They are airing SGA episodes in Europe early.

What does this mean for you?
Well because it was aired early people are going to watch it early on the internet and in the end it lowers the ratings for the show.

In the end it all comes down to ratings. We have seen this hit SG hard when they aired them in Canada first.

This could be fairly bad...

Uh oh.... not good....

*Is going through major Stargate withdrawel*

Haven't watched SG-1 since the end of season 10 and no Atlantis since two eps before the end of season four.... I'm getting anxious now!

Ya, this is a foolish move by them. Its best to release it at the same time not early otherwise it does hurt the ratings. Not only do you have to worry about it getting leaked on the internet but many these days are also recording the show on Tvo or something similar and watching it later. You can be on a completely different channel and it will tape it thus lowering the ratings.

Thats another factor that hurt SG-1 near the end seasons as recording had increased drastically.

Very foolish move.

That said, it was the only show they could get going for the summer because of the writers strike so the adverse effect might be dampened some.

It's the same with Doctor Who, it airs on the BBC a whole season before the US. Not fair, not fair at all... Wahhhhh! At least we don't have to wait a whole year before we get to see new episodes of SGA.

BBC Iplayer for Dr who they screen the dr who eps 1hr or so after airing in the uk and they take the ratings from it to :)
most of the uk tv channels are now showing there programmes on the net to stop piracey and loss of ratings . awesome !!

It's the same with Doctor Who, it airs on the BBC a whole season before the US.That's normal. It's the same with Stargate (normally). It's an across-the-puddle show, therefore it appears first over there.

ALSO (added in): the Dr Who script writers aren't in Hollywood, therefore they wouldn't get hit by the strike.

Speaking of Doctor Who, I just missed this week's episode... :(

Bad times, i never really understood realising new series' at different times for different places. Having a set date release for everyone seems much more logic. Also it can effect us guys and gals, while some are talking and debating the new series others havnt even seen it and dont get to join in with there opinions etc.

The one thing I don't understand with our ability to DVR shows and watch them later being so wide spread why they still rely on an archaic Nelson rating to determine the popularity of a show.

*Goes to Europe* Lucky people... :p

Sci Fi better not cancel the show because of low ratings. :/

Oi! Hands off our Doctor Who! It's the only decent sci-fi/fantasy export we have. And quite frankly, if we Limeys' have to wait up to a year to see new US shows...you guys should wait to see UK ones! :p

(PS...MINE! *glomps Doctor Who* :D )

Saturday's episode was horrible! I hate two-parters, it means I have to wait 'til next week!

The feeling's mutual, Darren...

But yeah, I still can't help but find it weird how a show airs sooner in one part of the globe than the other; it just doesn't make much sense to me... Of course, like everything, I bet all the money's behind it... Fools, I say! :p

If it was airing first on the North American continent, that would make sense.
But this is an American show in Europe, so it doesn't make any sense, as you say Ubik.

We should have an SGC Bash in person... Everyone flies to Europe, and we watch the first episode together! :D

Too bad it already aired...
